Community Guidelines

Our Community Guidelines are here to help facilitate a community-wide understanding of expectations and standards of conduct while using Leaf’Em. By using Leaf’Em, you agree to these guidelines and our Terms of Service. Violating any of these guidelines could result in immediate and permanent deactivation of your Leaf’Em account. We have divided our Community Guidelines into three sections: the Leaf’Em Promise, The Plant Sitter’s Part and the Plant Parent’s Part.  Following these guidelines will help ensure that everyone involved is treated with respect and inclusivity.

The Leaf’Em Promise:

  • Help assist plant care interactions by simplifying the process allowing plant parents to find plant care specialists in their area that are capable of meeting their needs. This includes a background check, plant care quiz, and reviews left by other plant parents.
  • To treat all parties involved with the utmost respect and strive to be as inclusive as possible.
  • Offer support in case anything goes wrong during the appointment process.
  • Dig into any reports of inappropriate conduct or any violation of the Community Guidelines. This also includes, when appropriate, removing any party who violates our safety guidelines and terms of service.
  • To protect any personal or financial information that Leaf'Em is trusted with.

The Plant Sitter’s Part:

  • Extend respect and inclusivity to all Leaf’Em users and administration.
  • Only accept plant care visits that you have both the availability and expertise to complete.
  • Keep all communication on the Leaf’Em app. This helps us validate claims and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Be respectful of all property while on a visit. This includes theft of any kind, damage to property, etc. Follow instructions for entry to property, plant care instructions, and other information provided by the plant parent.
  • Do not share pictures of the plant parent’s home or plants without their direct permission.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling plants that could cause irritation or harm, such as gloves for cacti or other spiky plants.
  • Do not participate in illegal activity of any kind. Please report any activity that makes you feel uncomfortable to Leaf’Em support.
  • Ask the plant parent about any inside cameras they might have active during their visit. They are not allowed in private areas such as bathrooms. If you feel uncomfortable or notice anything that feels inappropriate, please reach out to Leaf’Em support as soon as you can.
  • Plant sitters should immediately inform the plant parent of any emergency involving their plants or property. If the plant parent is unreachable, contact Leaf’Em support as soon as possible.
  • In case of injury or health concern related to plant care, immediately stop the task, apply first aid as needed, and inform the other party. If necessary, seek medical attention and report the incident to Leaf’Em support for record and assistance.
  • In cases of health emergencies or natural disasters, follow local guidelines and evacuate if necessary. Once safe, promptly report the situation to Leaf’Em support for further assistance and coordination. Leaf’Em will assist in managing the situation by providing guidance, support, and, if needed, mediation between the plant sitter and the plant parent to resolve any issues arising from the emergency.

The Plant Parent’s Part:

  • Extend respect and inclusivity to all Leaf’Em users and administration.
  • Add in your plants and plant care instructions so that the plant sitter is fully aware of the scope of work.
  • Keep all communication on the Leaf’Em app. This helps us validate claims and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Be respectful of the plant sitter's time and safety. Make sure they have the proper information they need to complete the visit.
  • Be honest and accurate when reviewing a plant sitter. Your feedback could be the reason they are selected for future appointments.
  • Do not share pictures of the plant sitter or their belongings without direct consent.
  • Do not participate in illegal activity of any kind. Please report any activity that makes you feel uncomfortable to Leaf’Em support.
  • Provide any crucial information that might be relevant in an emergency situation, like the location of first-aid kits or special instructions for rare or delicate plants.
  • Ensure that the plant care environment is free from hazards, including ensuring safe walking paths and secure placement of plants, especially those requiring special care or handling.
